Beer Review - Big Sky Moose Drool

Brewery: Big Sky Brewing Co
Location: Missoula MT
Beer Name: Moose Drool
Style: Brown Ale
ABV: 5.3%
IBU: NA

The beer was poured from a 12oz bottle into a pint glass. Pours a chestnut brown in color but with some backlighting it really shines with great clarity and a dark reddish amber color. A creamy head pours thick that keeps with decent retention. The aroma speaks of toasted malts with hints of plum and nutty breadiness, with faint whiffs of an herbal hop spice in the aroma. Crisp carbonation plays well with this medium body beer. Initial flavors are of toasted breads and nuts, along with a dash of sweet caramels that settles into mellow dark chocolate undertones. The hops provide enough bitterness and floral hints to balance with the malt character of the beer.

Overall a very well balanced and easy drinking version of a brown ale. A great meld of body, color and carbonation gives this beer a creamy texture. Aroma speaks true of what this beer is going to taste like. The flavor is smooth, slightly sweet, with a touch of floral hoppy bitterness. All and all a very session worthy beer and an excellent example of what a brown ale should strive to be.
