Beer Review - Boulevard Brewing Irish Ale

Brewery: Boulevard Brewing Co
Location: Kansas City, MO
Beer Name: Irish Ale
Style: Irish Red Ale
ABV: 5.8%
IBU: 30

The beer was poured from a 12oz bottle into a pint glass. Pours a deep reddish amber with a nice creamy head that dissipated quickly with some lacy on the glass. The aroma is a mixture of sweet malty grains and traces of earthy floral hops. This is a smooth medium body beer with a good amount of carbonation. The flavor begins with touches of sweet toffee, and caramel that settles into hints of slightly bitter roasted malts. Subtle traces of earthy hops contribute some spiciness and a touch of bitterness, giving it a nice balance to the malts.

Overall this is a very drinkable beer in the Irish ale style. One of the best hued beers I’ve ever seen. A really rich tawny red that really shines with a little back lighting. The aroma hints of sweets malts and woodsy hops that equally proves true upon sipping. A well balanced tasting ale that melds sweet malty flavors with a subtle herbaceous spice from the hop finish. This is an easy sipper to have around for any kind of St. Patrick’s Day celebration.
