Beer Review - Buffalo Bill's Orange Blossom Cream Ale

Brewery: Buffalo Bill’s Brewery
Location: Hayward, CA
Beer Name: Orange Blossom Cream Ale
Style: Cream Ale/Fruit Hybrid
ABV: 5.2%
IBU: 13

The beer was poured from a 12oz bottle into a tulip pint glass. Pours a beautiful orange hue with a good amount of head that quickly dissipates. Lacing is nearly undetectable but lots of bubbles rise to the surface. The aroma is very orangey with a hint of honey sweetness and lightly floral hops in the background. The taste is representative of the aroma. Starts with an orange bang that permeates this light body beer with a lot of carbonation. After the initial wave of orange ebbs there are faint hints of honey sweetness, a creamy yeastiness, and finishes with a touch of bitter orange.

Overall this is a very refreshing effervescent brew. The color is an outstanding orange hue. My initial interpretation was that there was too much carbonation and sweet orange, however, both of these characteristics combined do make this a very drinkable summer seasonal beer. The addition of honey and the creaminess of the beer style adds a thin layer of complexity that prevents this beer from becoming too cloying. From pour to finish this beer is fairly one-dimensional but interesting enough to make you want to try it again on a hot summer day.
